Starting from the top, the Cara Berlauk Udang is the set's crowning glory in golden yellow - savoury, santan-rich cakes with a bouncy bite and smooth, eggy chew.
Our tea concludes with plenty of satisfying crisp and crunch. The Cucur Makcik Bawang is an aromatic, garlicky fritter that's almost addictive when dipped in the house-made chilli sauce, while the Keropok Lekor Terengganu transported us from Bukit Damansara to the seaside stalls of Pantai Pandak, packed with nearly entirely fish paste, a testament to Ahh-Yum's quality of ingredients and preparation.
Tea for Two comes with a choice of Teh Tarik Kebanggaan Malaysia or Kopi Kampung. The tea is as good as it gets, a soothingly perfect balance of tea and milky sweetness, while the coffee is frothy fun, fragrantly relying on a Johor-sourced roast.
All in all, Tea for Two is a terrific way of tasting time-honoured staples that Malaysians in different parts of the nation have relished for generations, priced at a fair RM29.90 nett from 3pm to 5:30pm daily. It's currently exclusively available at Ahh-Yum outlets in Bukit Damansara, Plaza Shah Alam and Wangsa Walk Mall.
Many thanks to Ahh-Yum for this sampling.
