With windows overlooking the heart of Greenland's capital, Sarfalik is a spacious, serene restaurant within Hotel Hans Egede, serving up lumpfish roe platters and pickled herring sandwiches. Wash down with Greenlandic Coffee, a mix of coffee, kahlua, whiskey and whipped cream, set alight with Grand Marnier.

Katuaq Cultural Centre Cafe, Greenland

For a taste of Greenlandic fare, the Katuaq Cultural Centre Cafe in Nuuk, one of the world's northernmost capitals, is popular with locals and visitors alike, serving up the likes of reindeer hot dogs; open sandwiches heaped with redfish and halibut; and tapas platters comprising everything from smoked whale to lumpfish roe. Wash down with locally brewed beer.

Cafe Inuk, Greenland
