After two years of helping coffee novices begin brewing at home with select roasts and starter-kit tools, Bad Artist Coffee Co is premiering its first public space in SS2 this February, for a fellowship of filters and flat whites.

Founder Han has put together a textured, tactful space, manifesting the slow-living mindfulness of preparing your own pour in the morning.

A three-chair bar beckons for barista-led conversations over coffee, while repurposed centrepiece tables set the stage for workshops and cupping celebrations. A circular counter will host independent guest brewers by invitation, a gesture of Han’s gratitude to the community that has guided his growth.

A wide-windowed lounge peers over the neighbourhood, homely like a light-loving living room, comfortably welcoming customers every Friday to Sunday, 7 February onwards.

Bad Artist Coffee Co is primarily a small-batch roaster, known for its Three Of A Kind home-brewing box that curates beans from Asia, Africa and the Americas. Once its space soft-launches next month, customers can explore a hand-written menu of handcrafted coffee that spans Ecuador to Ethiopia, each chosen for its specific character, paired with treats like crumbly, berry-buttery cakes by home baker Brian.

Fun fact: Bad Artist Coffee Co’s space is built on a lifetime’s worth of Han’s family memories - his father formerly ran an office here since the 1980s. Han has rescued the place from rust and reclusion, revealing its ravishing terrazzo floors for a fresh generation of footprints.
