Standing out in Malaysia’s saturated landscape of bubble waffle, milk tea and coffee purveyors, ChamCham charms with Southeast Asian sensibilities, rooted in classic flavours, relished with a contemporary soul.

Fusing the familiar comfort of local kopi and Thai tea with the efficiency of modern beverage brands, ChamCham's snacks and sips prove tuned to Malaysian taste buds, served with speed and style in Gamuda Kemuning's Quayside Mall and Desa Petaling's Spark Mall.

Pandan-infused egg waffles with house-churned ice cream and kaya; Thai milk tea tinged with Malaysian teh tarik; Kopiccino brewed with Ipoh-roasted white coffee: These playful twists on everyday indulgences are crafted for convenience without compromise.

Fun fact: Founded in 2022, ChamCham has created its own streamlined software for self-order kiosks with specially discounted prices, perfect for a brisk grab-and-go experience.

Fans can look forward to a ChamCham app too, set to be launched later this year with loyalty rewards for regular patrons.

We visited ChamCham's latest outpost, launched this month at Quayside Mall, where customers can watch their desserts and drinks being made from start to finish, from the baking of bubble waffles to the blending of milk tea. We were impressed by the speed of the team,  with minimal wait times even during a rush of simultaneous orders.

ChamCham’s bubble waffles are where the fun begins, for a street-style snack with substance and satisfying sweetness, typically ready within four to five minutes.

At RM7.90 for the Original and RM8.90 for Red Velvet (with white chocolate chips baked in the bubbles), these eggy treats are crisp on the edges, pleasurably chewy at the core.

Nicely hefty in hand, the waffles hold their shape even with toppings, making them a sturdy base for add-ons like ChamCham’s house-churned ice cream (+RM2.99), available in vanilla, strawberry, or a smooth, dense mix of both.

Some fans go all in, flipping their waffle sideways and munching it like a cone, letting the warm, golden shell contrast with the rich, cold swirl inside.

Amp up the indulgence with Choco Boom (RM8.90), a cocoa-rich waffle studded with chocolate chips. Take it to the next level with a generous swipe of chocolate spread (+RM1.99), blanketing the waffle in deep, dark decadence. Chocolate on chocolate, in all the best ways.

For a taste of Malaysia in waffle form, the Pandan Green (RM8.90) hits aromatic notes, gorgeously laced with pandan, best enjoyed with a generous slather of kaya (+RM1.99), in line with ChamCham’s mission to honour traditional ingredients in a 21st-century incarnation.

Time for tea: ChamCham’s Thai Milk Tea and Thai Green Tea (RM7.90 for regular, RM8.90 for large) blend imported Thai tea leaves with local teh tarik, hitting closer to home.

The result is robust with a confident kaw kick, preserving the luscious essence of classic Thai tea. The green leans lighter and floral for a soothingly smooth, refreshingly fragrant balance.

ChamCham’s Americano (RM6.90 for regular, RM7.90 for large) tastes unmistakably Malaysian, brewed with Ipoh-roasted white coffee beans, channelling kopitiam kopi-o inspirations, reinterpreted as a sleeker, taller drink.

For something frothier, the Kopiccino spins that time-honoured foundation into a milky-silky cappuccino-style delight, brimming with the pull of nostalgia and foam.

ChamCham (RM9.90 for regular, RM10.90 for large) is the namesake, reimagining cham as a mix of local tea and local coffee, infused with a secret surprise of chocolate for brilliant bursts of extra richness.

Cham Cham-41.jpgChoco Frappé (RM9.90 for regular, RM10.90 for large) is also a crowd favourite, buoyed by a potent cocoa punch without tasting too sugary or cloying.
