Desa Sri Hartamas’ new Swtchbck Coffee cafe brings sexy black to this neighbourhood, with one of the first Black Eagle Maverick espresso machines in Malaysia. This Italian-made model, internationally launched last year, is Victoria Arduino’s top gun for energy efficiency and extraction possibilities, encouraging exciting experimentation.
Swtchbck’s barista-founder Adam and his friendly team are up to the task. Adam previously helmed a Hartamas apartment-based coffee pick-up and delivery service; his business’ name refers to his other passion, mountain biking - switchbacks are roads with steep slopes and sharp bends, echoing Adam’s journey toward running his first cafe, flourishing with plants and filled with distinctive design elements.
Coffee choices comprise the usual espresso-based suspects, plus playful beverages like the soothing Caramilk Macchiato, reviving Dirty Orange and lusciously cream-layered Espresso con Panna.
Ask for the off-menu selection, including the Pure Brew coffee that lives up to its name, pristinely lucid, courtesy of the Black Eagle Maverick’s innovations.
Bakes by independent sources - muffins, madeleines and matcha cookies - prove fresh and fluffy-moist, worthwhile for an afternoon treat.
