Bring a smile to a child this Christmas, simply by ordering a fun but memorably meaningful meal for yourself or a loved one from Hinode Bento.
For each Christmas bento set purchased by a customer from now till 2 January 2022, this Japanese eatery in Bukit Jalil will donate a beautiful bento to a home for underprivileged kids.
Hinode Bento is pledging up to 1,000 bento donations in this one-for-one initiative, in line with its hope of spreading warmth and cheer within the community.
These bentos make a charming gift if you want to send some food to family and friends, crafted kyaraben-style, with rice that resembles smiling snowmen, complete with carrots for cute noses, colourfully surrounded with meat and vegetables, plus a dessert and drink.
Order at order.hinodebento.com - use the code EDKLHB3 to enjoy RM3 off your purchase.
Hinode Bento is offering two different designs for these Christmas bento sets (RM55 each).
Christmas Gift Set A comprises a Snowman Chicken Roll Bento with Hinode Sunshine (a beverage layered with sparkling orange juice on top, fruit jelly at the base) and Merry Berry Pudding (a two-tiered pudding of milk and matcha flavours, studded with strawberries).
The chicken roll features tenderly grilled thigh meat stuffed with turkey ham, cheese, carrots and celery like a roulade, brightened with teri sauce, rounded out with tamagoyaki, sausages, fresh cherry tomatoes, corn, broccoli and snap peas for a balanced, filling bento.
Christmas Gift Set B boasts the Little Snowman Tsukune Bento, melting the heart with two jolly snowmen rice balls, surrounded by handmade savoury chicken meatballs with teriyaki sauce, turkey ham, potato salad and various vegetables, as well as the Hinode Sunshine drink and Merry Berry Pudding dessert.
The bentos come in Hinode's custom-made, elegantly distinctive boxes. While stocks last, customers will also receive a special gift of a handcrafted embroidered patch with each set.
Hinode Bento's team poured a lot of thought into where to contribute their bentos.
They learned through enquiries that homes for refugee children have received relatively little focus from contributors.
So their bentos will initially be sent to the Living Hope children's centres, which house hundreds of Myanmar refugee youngsters throughout the Klang Valley, in locations like Puchong and Taman Maluri.
The bento donations will be delivered to the homes between December 18 and January 5, with updates provided on Hinode Bento's social media accounts.
