Nothing Fancy is much too modest about its mighty pleasures: OUG’s latest cafe, a contemporary diner in pretty pastels, takes patrons on a worthwhile culinary journey through Western Europe, from duck parmentier to lamb risotto.
The Duck Parmentier is primed to be a smash hit, the French equivalent of a cottage pie, with a succulent, savoury base of shredded duck, blanketed by creamy potato purée, all brimming with honest, made-from-scratch flavours and textures (very fair value for RM20, complete with crisply fresh sourdough toast and a lively pomegranate salad).
Lamb risotto will make for a marvellous lunch too - buttery, al dente rice, heaped generously with tender, tasty chunks of lamb, surprisingly as satisfying as a rustic trattoria's rendition (RM28).
