Palms Cafe looks undistinguished, but the food here is not bad at all.

Smoked salmon penne tossed in creamy orange sauce and pine nuts, topped with spinach leaves and freshly grated black pepper. Good enough to rival other outlets that specialize in Italian fare.

Burgundy eight-hour slow-cooked tender Angus beef cheeks, served in own jus with mashed potatoes and truffle oil. Pure comfort food.

Wood-fired pizza with tomato, mozzarella cheese, roasted duck & mushrooms. An expertly prepared thin-crust concoction, better than we had expected.

Braised lamb shank with red wine, plum tomatoes, carrot and celery on mashed potatoes and garlic. Hearty and satisfying, but it seems impossible to turn lamb shank into a truly memorable dish anymore.
