Mumbai’s Kailash Parbat has opened its maiden Malaysian outpost, bringing Indian vegetarian street fare to NU Sentral, honouring its founding family’s three-generation-old culinary heritage that reaches back to the 1950s.
The Chaat Platter is the perfect sampler of spicy-savoury snacks: Dahi wada (pomegranate-powered lentil fritters, flooded with yogurt), bhel puri (puffed rice and potatoes with mango), crispy corn baskets, and sev puri (crunchy fried flour discs supercharged with onions and tomatoes, seasoned with chilli chutney and tamarind sauce). Full-blown flavour bombs.
Fun fact: This is Malaysia’s first Kailash Parbat, but the Mulchandani family’s brand - birthed by two brothers in Bombay in 1952 - has scores of franchised venues spanning Singapore to Switzerland to Saudi Arabia, New York and Los Angeles to Toronto.
