When a Langkawi-born restaurant beloved for Negeri Sembilan specialities launches its first KL outpost, the result is an instant hit.
Spicy satisfaction: The Masak Lomak is the headliner, with sliced smoked beef sultrily swimming in a light coconut milk gravy, yellow with turmeric, fragrant with lemongrass (RM48).
But other recipes may be even more memorable - the Sambal Cili Padi is sharp and stinging, promising pleasure in pain, with plump, firm and fresh prawns saturated with a house-made blend of red and green chillies, garlic and red onions (RM60).
Don't skip the side dishes - the Terung Goreng Belacan is addictively delicious, with fleshy, full-bodied fried eggplant tossed with anchovies, a marvellous marriage of land and sea (RM22), while the Telur Dadar seems simple but proves so enjoyable, cooked to comfort with its soft, warm fluffiness (RM14). Even the Sambal Belacan is a should-try, an exemplary sambal in fine-tuned taste and texture (RM5).
