Bukit Damansara's new Pomod'Oro does simple, soulful justice to the rustic roots of recipes that span Italy's north to south.
From the Abruzzo region, start with house-made chitarra, pasta with a full-bodied bite, lip-smacking with sausage meat and porcini mushrooms in light cream sauce, tasting like a plate prepared with love at Nonna's home (RM45).
From Lombardy, risotto alla Milanese with ossobuco, aromatic rice rich with saffron, partnered with braised veal shank that's monumentally fork-tender and magnificently filled with luscious marrow - one of our favourite renditions of this too-rare classic in KL (RM95).
From Campania, gnocchi alla Sorrentina, a steaming-hot casserole of authentic potato gnocchi, comfort food baked with buffalo mozzarella, saturated in tomato sauce that's a bit too sweetish for our liking (RM42).
Pizzas are also available, cooked in an Italian-made firebrick oven - the lightest choice is the Fornarina, with garlic, rosemary and olive oil (RM10). Dine beside some lovely wallpaper that honours the work of Early Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca.
