Pie tee, pongteh and Pimm's: Baba Quay, the new Peranakan kitchen of Bangsar's Ronnie Q pub, tempts us with traditional Nyonya cooking, paired with a cocktail or two for extra pleasure.
The top hats are crunchy and fresh-tasting, though they could be more richly stuffed with shredded turnips for a juicier chew (RM12 for six pieces). The pongteh chicken is a clearer triumph, creamily textured with bean paste, beautifully balanced with tender chunks of meat and soft potatoes for a true comfort-food stew (RM28).
Punch up the potency with an order of Pimm's No. 1 and Pina Colada (RM24 each).
