If you're pressed for time before you board your plane but want a fast meal ahead of your flight, gateway@klia2 has got you covered, with a vibrant range of quick-and-easy eateries that'll dish out fuss-free fare in a jiffy. Here are our 12 choices for a quick bite or even just a sip to drink in this full-fledged mall that's conveniently connected to the main low-cost carrier hub.
Boat Noodle
With numerous branches across the Klang Valley, Boat Noodle is capable of speedy service, whipping up small bowls of Thai-inspired noodles in a slurp-worthy variety of broths with chicken or beef. Catering to busy travellers even for breakfast, there's a dedicated morning menu from 7am to 10am, showcasing a choice of Chiang Mai pan-fried egg with toast; hot steamy 'sangkaya' steamed bread with kaya; or three bowls of noodles served with a hot beverage. With plenty of seating space, there's no worry about having to wait for a table.
Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks
Isaac Toast & Coffee
gateway@klia2 holds the honour of having been the launchpad for Malaysia's first Isaac Toast & Coffee. It makes sense that Isaac made an airport mall its home - a sandwich with coffee is the perfect meal-on-the-move to squeeze in at the last minute. Keep things simple with the Isaac Toast Combo, spotlighting one of Isaac's special sandwiches with coffee, tea, or ade, the Korean fruit beverage.
Liang Sandwich Bar
Here's a distinctive sandwich with a difference, substituting typical bread with a take on Taiwanese onion pancakes. Place your order and the Liang Sandwich Bar team will prepare it immediately, so your sandwich arrives toasty and crispy.
Baiwago Plus Cafe
A bakery that promises a solid range of sandwiches, buns, cookies and cakes to take into the terminal. The popular Dirty Choco has become a social media hit, dark and grimy in all the right ways, fluffy and flaky with chocolate. This branch of Baiwago also offers a sandwich promotion for only RM2 with a purchase of coffee.
Mr Siew Bao
gateway@klia2's 24-hour bakery ensures you'll find sustenance no matter how early or how late your flight is. Prep for your takeoff with an Apple Pie, or treat yourself to a Golden Durian Bao to celebrate your safe return to Malaysia.
Family Mart
It might look like a typical convenience store, but Family Mart has made waves in Malaysia for its remarkable repertoire of warm meals (from Japanese oden and udon to Chinese dim sum, plus hot dogs and fried chicken) and chilled desserts (the soft serves in seasonal flavours are a should-try), as well as imported Japanese snacks. The line moves swiftly and the food is ready on the spot.
Fullhouse Egglet
Hong Kong-inspired egg waffles abound at Fullhouse Egglet, perfect to enjoy before you embark on your holiday. Two years strong and they're still coming up with new egglet flavours here, the latest being the Strawberry Marshmallow Egglet and the Torched Marshmallow with Chocolate Sauce. For an airport souvenir, you can also take home some merchandise instead of snacks; cute plushies, water dispensers and containers are all available, many often at discounted rates.
Uji Cha
If you just want something light but sugary before flying, satisfy your sweet tooth with Uji Cha's Kakigori (shaved ice dessert), Mochi (rice cakes) or perhaps a Matcha Cone Parfait.
Edibee
Edibee's Taiwanese tidbits are perfect if you're just peckish, not famished, and you want something to snack on for your trip ahead - perhaps some dried fruits, sour plums and crackers to go.
Dream Color
Another viral sensation, Dream Color's Instagrammable drinks emerge in ethereal colours that will pop out on your feed. A choice of 26 beverages can be found here in four different series: Butterfly, Fruit, Cloud and Tea. The signature ingredient in the flagship Butterfly series is the butterfly pea flower, the same natural ingredient that brings blue dimensions to the Malaysian rice recipe of nasi kerabu. The top drink in this series is the Twilight, a blend of butterfly pea flower tea, strawberries and kumquat lemon.
Regiustea
Regiustea, a pioneer in the cheese tea phenomenon, with over 100 outposts worldwide, recently celebrated its first-year anniversary in Malaysia; their cold-brew teas prove the ideal antidote to the country's humidity, quenching our thirsts with a selection of 30 varieties, spanning the Regius Cheese series to Milkteas and a small collection of Regiuscoffee.
Whether you're coming or going, gateway@klia2 will ensure you'll never go hungry or thirsty while on the move, tiding you over with everything from hot-and-hearty fare to unique desserts and drinks. Enjoy the flavours, then enjoy your flight!
