Damai's menu was a work in progress when we visited, but customers can expect meat-free mindfulness in categories like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and raw.
The selection spans snacks like the Zen Master (RM18.90; skewers of tempeh, shiitake mushrooms, capsicum and cherry tomatoes, with a smoothly creamy house-blended peanut sauce), brunch fare such as the Sweetheart Sunrise (RM20.90, scrambled eggs laced with sweet potatoes and antioxidant-rich moringa leaves), and complete meals like Joy (RM23.90; zucchini 'pasta' drenched in a luscious sauce of activated cashew nuts, miso and herbs).
Chocolate might sound like diet-destroying decadence at most cafes, but Damai's reliance on raw Ubud-sourced cacao makes these chocolate treats more of a guilt-free indulgence - the Damai Special Cacao Ceremony combines the cacao with cinnamon, coconut sugar and almond milk (RM14), while the Special Mocha brings together the cacao with a Singapore-roasted Liberty Coffee espresso blend (RM14). Madly In Love is a cacao mousse that makes for a rich and robustly satisfying dessert (RM20).
Even the water offered at Damai is more wholesome than the norm, ultraviolet-disinfected to avoid chemical processing (RM1 for 500ml).
