Cafe-Hoppers Assemble! It might not be the Baxter Building, but this new venue in Taman Tun could become a Batcave for brunch-loving fans of Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner & Natasha Romanoff.
The name 'Showcase' is an understatement as far as this cafe is concerned; Hot Toys action figures made in Hong Kong dominate the decor, which features face-offs galore between the God of Thunder & the God of Mischief, Batman & the Joker, plus other caped crusaders from the personal collection of Showcase co-owners Nicholas & Freddie.
Folks can place orders for these collectibles through Showcase, which hopes to be a coffee-serving hub with a heroic difference.
The menu here should hurt neither the wallet nor the health of customers, with most nutrition-focused items powering in at below RM20; a simple beetroot salad with walnuts that costs RM13.90 is available for a snack.
Sandwich of beef salami & brisket slices with mozzarella cheese, teamed up with lower-in-oil air-fried fries (RM15.90). Several of these recipes need more tweaking for a more slam-bang taste & texture, but it's clear that Showcase puts effort into its kitchen.
Fluffy pancakes, laced with a little bit of feta cheese & berry jam, complemented by Lescure butter & maple syrup (RM9.90). Heartier fare, like mac & cheese (RM14.90), pesto grilled salmon (RM19.90) & Aussie rib-eye steak (RM35.90), is offered too.
Showcase serves illy coffee, as well as flavoured yoghurt smoothies (from caramelised apple to passion fruit).
We wish Showcase lots of longevity; maybe the next time we head here, Peter Quill will form part of its ensemble.
