Kanbe Sushi is the newest member of Mont Kiara's Kanbe family of restaurants - this one specialises in sushi and sashimi, complementing its siblings that serve ramen and yakiniku.

The range is cheerful, crowd-pleasing and comprehensive, with many intriguing items at fair prices. Choose a fish for sashimi, such as kinmedai, or a sweeping sushi selection of everything from hirame engawa (RM8.80 per piece) to ankimo (RM8.80 for two pieces).

Izakaya-inspired treats include raw snapper served with egg yolk for decadent dipping, hard-boiled eggs layered with uni and ikura, collagen-laden hon maguro skin strips, crab tomalley with seaweed, and gunkan sushi topped with quail egg yolk and grated mountain yam.

Holy moley: Wholey Wonder is set to be one of the city’s most charming new cafes, a serene secret sanctuary on Damai Road, a five-minute drive from KLCC.

Opening by the end of next month, Wholey Wonder currently offers deliveries.

Plant-powered in decor and dining, Wholey Wonder whips up wholesome Japanese and Korean wonders in a wood-hued healing hideout.

Relish the ramen, dark and deep in a broth of 10-year-aged Hokkaido organic miso, and the kimbap, plump with tempeh katsu, mixed cabbage, scrambled tofu and sea barley, coupled with cold-brewed jasmine milk tea and hot hojicha. A variety of distinctive daifuku will be available soon for dessert.

Morigin Coffee promises a playful parade of Asian fusion flavours, a spirited new cafe in Klang’s five-decade-old soulful neighbourhood of Berkeley Garden.

Flavours pack a punch here, from Philippine-inspired adobo chicken rice bowls to Thai-inflected curry khao soi pasta with Jaoanese chicken katsu, plus tributes to Korean bulgogi, Malaysian percik chicken and Nyonya fish.

Pair with the One Plus One - a piccolo latte plus house-blended hawthorn black coffee.

Morigin Coffee is the latest entry in Klang’s M series of cafes, spanning Mahogani to Manyflow and more.
