We wandered into this place following several twists of fate and timing, but it was a fortunate turn of events, since the food turned out to be fairly satisfying.
Creamy pumpkin soup with chives & cheddar cheese. Tasted freshly made.
Caprese salad, featuring cherry tomatoes, mozzarella & basil pesto. The sweet, juicy cherry tomatoes offered a nice twist to the typical tomatoes used for this recipe.
Carbonara pasta with white truffle oil, capellini roe & mushrooms. We were skeptical about whether they'd really use truffle oil, but they did! We smelled a strong whiff of truffle as soon as we dug into the pasta; every strand seemed to bear its flavour.
Vanilla ice cream with extra virgin olive oil, sea salt & raspberry balsamic glaze. Another one-of-a-kind concoction that worked brilliantly, with the olive oil lending an extra layer of luxury to the ice cream's milkiness.
Liquor-based tiramisu. Average, with only faint traces of booze.
Mojito and Sexy Chocolate (tequila, cointreau) cocktails.
French Chardonnay. A decent bargain at RM26 for two glasses.
S'Mores,
The Sphere, Bangsar South.
Bangsar South is open! woots!
ReplyDeleteMore food posts to come (frm that area)?? ;)
tng: maybe only one or two more from me =)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the olive oil on ice cream works DIY at home too? Can imagine it working. I love love Bangsar South. Now if only someone will sell me their unit in this one condo I like!
ReplyDeleteThe Sphere? where is bangsar south?
ReplyDeleteThe carbonara pasta looks watery, or is it just the picture? Daymn, now I'm thinkin of an awesome mentaiko pasta which I cooked before...so creamy and roe-ey and egg-y. *snaps back to reality* I know u've explained this Bangsar South thing to me...so this is on the side of Pantai Panorama, or opposite? I need my GPS. Is Sid's on this side oso?
ReplyDeletemin: my diy skills are extremely limited, so i wouldn't dare! but i think u'll need really creamy ice cream to balance out the olive oil :D i haven't had many chances to explore bangsar south, so i'm not even sure where it begins and where the kerinchi flat end =)
ReplyDeleteeiling: just a 5-10 min drive from mid valley. here's a good map: http://mywealthplanner.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/bsr-south-location.jpg
lemongrass: hmmm, i think it was just right. not TOO creamy, not too watery. oh yeah, i lurve mentaiko spaghettis too; only managed to try them at a couple of japanese restaurants (in hartamas). i've linked a map in my comment to eiling above, but i'm not sure where pantai panorama is. u have your gps now, so u can gooo! it's near sid's, but they're in two different developments. sid's is at the village, s'mores is at the sphere, both in bangsar south :D
i wan to try this ice cream place tht i read somewhr... hhmmm... *googling*
ReplyDeletehere it is!
http://www.meluvsnowflakes.com/
Saw it open? doesnt sound like the same one in SS15 & pavillion cos it mentioned only selayang n bangsar south
tng: ooh, didn't notice this outlet at all. based on the website, it looks like it's in the same complex as s'mores. hopefully the ice cream is creamy and the fruits are fresh!!! =)
ReplyDeletewent to Bangsar South once to see the management of UOA... the place was still empty then!
ReplyDeleteTime to check it out now...
and why all the food looked so healthy this time??? I thought that you are a carnivore
ReplyDeleteleo: yeah, i think most of the restaurants opened after the middle of last year. but it still seems a work in progress! =) heheh, i'm learning to become an omnivore, but i'll never become a herbivore, hopefully! :D
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin soup (all variations of it)!! Can't wait to try this.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sean, I can't ever imagine you as a herbivore... :P
lfb: coincidentally, i had the chance to order pumpkin soup at an outlet in jaya one earlier this evening, but skipped it in favour of guinness-infused lamb meatballs. and yep, that probably proves that i'll never be a herbivore (even though i was born in the year of the rabbit!) =)
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm with you on the alcoholic meatballs... haha, but still would have prolly had the pumpkin soup too. I'm addicted to pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteEver tried the salted-eggyolk pumpkin sticks at Canton Place (I think that's the name of the restaurant, at Solaris Mont Kiara)? Heavenly.
lfb: i hear ya on pumpkins. but u're getting your canton outlets mixed up lah, it's canton fare, heheh =) i've never ordered that particular dish, but it does sound great! my ultimate dream dish would be salted egg yolk-coated foie gras on a bed of layered unagi and pumpkin! :D
ReplyDeleteOh yeah. I'm thinking of Lanson Place. Eeks.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, your salted egg yolk-coated foie gras on a bed of layered unagi and pumpkin sounds like the culinary version of the man who had sex with fifty virgins then at the point of ecstasy had an elephant dropped on him.
Oh so good... but after that, sure keel over. Kaput. :P
lfb: oh i've done the 50 virgins thing (without the elephant ending, of coz). it's totally overrated. after i finished, all i felt like doing was lazing in bed, eating honey mustard-flavoured pringles and watching reruns of american idol =)
ReplyDeleteHoney mustard-flavoured Pringles? Oh that sounds like a weekend I wouldn't mind replicating. (I'd probably substitute AI with a more mindless Spartacus: Blood and Sand though.)
ReplyDeletelfb: hmmm, i'll take ryan seacrest over andy whitfield any day (or night) :D
ReplyDeleteOk, you get Seacrest, I'm more than happy to settle with Whitfield. :P
ReplyDeletelfb: i'll be generous. u can have simon and randy too =)
ReplyDeleteGross! For that you can have Paula Abdul (even though she's not on AI anymore).
ReplyDeletelfb: you're a cold-hearted snake *ouh ouhh*
ReplyDeleteWell, whaddacanahsay? Opposites attract. *one step forward, two steps back*
ReplyDeletelfb: straight up now tell me, do u really wanna keep this comment thread going on forever *ouh ouh ouhhh*
ReplyDeleteJust waiting for you to have the last word, mate. C'mon, rush rush... with it! :P
ReplyDeletelfb: too bad paula's discography is so limited! i can't think of any more of her lyrics to steal from!
