La Gomera @ Damansara Perdana

Tricky to find, but not a bad stop if you crave a hearty, affordable Spanish meal.

This might be the Klang Valley's first Spanish buffet outlet, with mostly cold tapas & pinchos spread over a counter, alongside hot stews & freshly grilled food.

Many of the selections seem fairly authentic, despite the absence of pork. Lotsa beans, tomatoes & potatoes, with unexpected ingredients such as ox tongue & tripe.

Prices? RM59.90++ per person for dinner, but the opening promo entitles a fourth person to eat for free with three other paying customers. Valid through July 29.

We piled our plates with hearty stews. Tender chunks of lamb, beef, chicken.

Paella is sometimes available on order (included in the buffet price). Brimming with prawns, clams & mussels, though some of the seafood could be fresher.

  3. Ooh this induces seven levels of joy this crappy fluey Tue morning! I think I might sidestep my policy against buffets for this - wonder if they do weekend lunches? Can't possibly stomach this for dinner!

  4. Min: I have a sinking suspicion that their buffet is only available in the evenings, between 530pm-midnight (with a 10 ringgit reduction for customers who come in after 930pm). Their a la carte menu is OK though ... It's nice to have a Spanish joint in this part of town and I hope it does well, but I can't really rave about it, since places like el meson in bangsar and pinchos at changkat are better options for Spanish food...

  6. Unka: ya, though I guess maybe it wouldn't work too well on weekdays, since most office employees wouldn't wanna stuff themselves silly before facing another 3-4 hours at the cubicle :D

  7. Sooner or later, the macaron craze will be replaced by the paella craze. :D

  14. this is the first time i came across a spanish buffet. Sad to say that the paella rice is not the authentic paella rice like the Bomba and Calasparra Rice.

  16. eiling: yeah, buffets tend to be the economical way to go, but it's always best to stick to a la carte menus for top-notch quality...
cindy: hope u enjoyed it, despite the changes in the menu :D
