After all the hype, Zouk's foray into The Gardens might seem underwhelming at first; the restaurant and bar look handsome enough but aren't particularly dazzling.
It's still worth a visit though. The place is calm and spacious, the staff members are genuinely friendly and the food is reasonably satisfying.
Skewers of beef bacon wrapped around wild mushrooms, pimento & cheddar cheese, served with tomato chutney. Juicy and fairly flavourful.
Sesame-crusted tuna grilled with lime & coriander. The slabs of fish could have been fresher, but at least they were thick and succulent. Loved the wasabi aioli dip.
Seared scallops with chilli, mango, pomelo salsa & lemon wedge. Sufficiently meaty, but too ordinary-tasting to really recommend.
Balinese Satay (chicken fillet grilled with lemongrass, tumeric & cumin, served with pickled cucumber, peanut sauce & kicap manis). Tender and well-marinated.
