Il Padrino means The Godfather in Italian. To emphasize that point, the menu here is filled with quotes from the Godfather film trilogy, while the walls are adorned with portraits of Marlon Brando, the star of the first movie.

It's a sleek but relaxed restaurant, with friendly service and wide selections. By the way, the kitchen crew deserves praise for dishing out the food very quickly.

Pastas and pizzas are the highlights. We tried a few of the more interesting pasta choices, all of which proved to be tasty comfort food. Not exceptional, but competently executed.

Cold cut selection of parma ham, coppa, mortadella, speck and salami.

A hearty helping of potato gnocchi with walnuts in a four-cheese sauce.

Spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli with butter sage sauce and parmesan.

Squid ink seafood tortellini with creamy saffron sauce.

Risotto with pancetta, mixed vegetables and saffron.

I drove past this place on Sat too. Looks good, thxs for the tip, will give it a try one day. So many new places to try, so little time.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I'd imagine the place to be made up of darker wood panelling... but I suppose even the Mafia's gotta keep up with the times!
ReplyDeleteThe cold cuts look yummy.
ReplyDeleteTo be more Godfather-like, they should remove the tablecloths! Tough and gruff.

ReplyDeleteboo: yeah, my to-do list is getting longer!
ReplyDelete550ml: i'm more worried about whether they have copyright permission!
carolyn: or their waiters should look more gangsterish...
joe: it wasn't totally empty for dinner, so i guess office workers in the neighbourhood might hang out there in the evening too...
Don't bother coming. The boss is really rude.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Princess. The boss is astonishingly rude.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter if the place looks nice, the racist attitude from the owner have turned off many people.
ReplyDelete"This is not a Chinese place!" said the boss to us who were partying there.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't even let the waiters serve us after that.
This is beyond rude!
