Carlos Mexican Canteena

Not a bad stop if you're craving Tex-Mex favorites. Prices are fair, portions are hearty, and the food is pretty palatable.

Crunchy nachos, generously topped with chunky minced beef, melted Monterey Jack cheese, guacamole, sour cream, jalapeno peppers & spicy tomato salsa.

Supremely satisfying tacos _ crispy folded corn tortillas stuffed with chicken, shredded lettuce, cheese & tomato salsa.

Seafood enchiladas. The skin seemed a tad too thick, but that's a minor quibble.

Mexican paella. Not all that different from a Spanish recipe; equally yummy, really.

Deep-fried white tortillas stuffed with cream cheese & peaches. A meal here is certainly not for carb-watchers. The rest of us should have no complaints.

Sauza Gold & Jose Cuervo tequilas.

  3. Sean: Yep, the place is clearly a winner. Word of mouth is the strongest marketing mechanism. Glad to finally "bump" into you, although i wasn't quite sure, otherwise i would have came to say hi. Mmm.. u didnt recognise me right? hehe. We tried every single cocktail in the menu yesterday

  4. Augustdiners: actually I did recall someone there who looked like you (u were with two other people?), but it was dark, so I wasn't sure either. It was my second time there this week, but I was with a Muslim friend this time, so we focused more on the food, which turned out to be better than expected! :D

  6. Augustdiners: wow, three people sharing all the specialty cocktails on the menu is quite impressive! Am aiming to try their shooters next time. But yeah, the beef burger was very good, with a patty that seemed homemade and lotsa toppings :D

  9. Augustdiners: thanks! I don't quite like the taste of absinthe, but I did try their "weed killer," which had absinthe. Yep, quite potent! U have a good weekend too!
