We came here expecting good food, but were happily surprised by great food.
Braised village chicken with Chinese sausage. The chicken was relatively bland, but the deliciously sweet sausages made up for it.
Their barbecued meats are to die for. I could easily and happily have polished off a plate of this crisp siew yoke on my own.
The char siew was sensational. Sweet, sticky and soft in exactly the right way.
Sauteed petola with dried prawns and salted egg yolk. Creamy comfort food. I had never heard of petola before this, though everyone else on the table seemed to know it well.
Tea-smoked duck. The meat was tender and bursting with flavour, while the skin was exquisitely crisp. Perhaps the best duck I've had all year.
Stir-fried pork neck with three varieties of mushrooms. Totally forgettable.
Braised pork trotter in abalone sauce. Not bad, but some parts were too chewy.
Fried glutinous rice with preserved meat. Another outstanding dish. Every bite was a delight, brilliantly accentuated by the lap cheong fragrance.
