Solace

Solace might be Medan Damansara's least prominent restaurant, despite its excellent name, which evokes impressions of a calm refuge to comfort the wounded soul.

Braised pork belly. Rather salty and oily, but we still lapped up every bit of the melt-in-the-mouth meat. Total comfort food for carnivores.

Braised beef rib with BBQ sauce. Chewy, with a somewhat stale stench.

Grilled pork ribs. Not the best in town; tasted OK, but without the show-stopping succulence that we worship in ribs.

Seafood paella. Brimming with prawns, mussels, squid & clams, but lacked a real 'wow' factor. Maybe more saffron would have made the rice more flavorful.

Rum-&-honey marinated chicken with mushroom sauce. Sounded kinda interesting on the menu, but tasted like regular chicken breast.

Mojito & Long Island Iced Tea.

Southern Comfort & Triple Sec.

Concha Y Toro Frontera Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Solace,
Jalan Kasah, Medan Damansara.

  1. Oh dear.... Doesn't look very outstanding, especially with Vintry and the Ribs place just a few doors down.

  2. Yeahhh not much of an eating joint this one, but I do love to come here for a quiet tipple or three. Trick is not to overstay my welcome once I get the buzz as they observe very strict closing hours and are wont to kick you out on the dot!

  3. J: yeah, vintry's ribs are better! Sadly, i guess the main reason to head here would be if the other outlets on this row are too crowded...
Min: ooh, I wonder if there are strict rules for that because they're in a residential area. I think 1am would be a fair closing time here (I hope it's not as early as midnight!)

  4. Yikes...I think I'd stick to Vintry's or Mezze. This one doesn't sound promising...

  6. bangsar-babe: yeah, i wish i could recommend this place. there's lots of potential in the menu, but the execution is kinda weak...
michelle: ahhh, it's quite a nice area, with lots of restaurants, serving everything from indian food to steaks :D

  11. I don't think the food live up to its name. The competition there is tough!

  15. Nonsense place. I am amazed how they can be operating as a restaurant. It's dark, totally not conducive for dining. Floor and toilet is dirty. Food is bad and no worth it.
