Mr Poker & Triple Mellow @ Sri Petaling

This visually sumptuous cafe is bedecked with everything from playing cards to rocking horses, circa-1970s TV sets to Bruce Lee memorabilia to a portrait of the Mona Lisa sipping coffee. Drinks showcase influences from the Americas (south of Texas, specifically) with single-origins from Mexico (an espresso starts at RM10.90) & yerba mate tea served with dried pineapples.

Mr Poker Coffee
3-1, First Floor, Jalan Radin Bagus 6, Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.
Mon-Thurs, 11am-10pm; Fri-Sun, 11am-12am. Tel: 03-7497-1777

With Boardman bikes mounted on the walls alongside triathlon-themed banners, fitness enthusiasts might feel right at home at Triple Mellow. As far as food is concerned, the most tantalising temptation is the pan of baked potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, capsicum, eggplant, straw mushrooms & pickled mustards, topped with a poached egg & paired with flour tortillas, performing well enough for a piping-hot comfort-food meal. For coffee, the cafe relies on beans from Thai boutique roaster Pacamara.

Triple Mellow
47 Jalan Radin Anum, Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. Wed-Mon, 1030am-1030pm. Tel: 03-9054-7431

  2. I take it that this is more of a hangout place for the young and coffee is the main focus. It's quite a visual feast and I note only one dish is featured :)

    1. Phong Hong: yeah, mr poker had some snacks, but the main allure was the ambiance, you're right ;) triple mellow had more food, but the dish that called out to me was the poached egg with baked potatoes - comfort food! :)

  3. Mona Lisa drinking tea!! I'm not sure if it's me, but the decor stood out to me. It felt like the owners were blending in the old (the vintage televisions and ponies) with the new (the chairs and the medals).

  5. What a great setting, and I'd love some dried pineapple on the side of my coffee - that would make a fine change to a biscuit.
