A cozy stop that supplies all the sweets one's heart might desire, both day and night.
Starhill Tea Salon offers no fewer than 12 macaron flavors, basically regular ones, from chocolate to pistachio, lemon to strawberry. Might not be the best in town, but still rich & gooey.
Mango cake with vanilla genoise. Mild in flavor, not too tangy.
Chocolate & green tea gateau with caramel truffle. Tasted reasonably fresh, even though we were munching on this at midnight (last orders are at 12.30 a.m. daily).
Engadine Torte _ vol-au-vent filled with caramelized nuts & chantilly cream. This, on the other hand, seemed disappointingly dry & hardened. Hits & misses here.
Chocolate sponge cake with choc mousse layers. Trying to straddle that fine line between dense & creamy, this cake tipped over to the former, for better or worse.
Choco Mint Truffle South African tea, perfect for partnering with desserts. Starhill Tea Salon sells a solid range of tea from across the globe.
Yay! Booze is also available: Kamikaze (vodka, gin, rum, lime juice) & Cherry Brandy.
Brown Cow (kahlua, milk) & Lynchberg Lemonade (jack daniels, triple sec, lime juice, 7-up). Cocktails here are pricey at RM38++ a pop, but they're pretty potent.
Creme de cacao white & creme de cassis.

Someone mentioned that the macarons are supplied by Nathalie's ... not sure if it's true?
ReplyDeleteBaby Sumo: oooo, i hadn't heard that. hmmmm, that seems possible, though i wonder whether maybe the macarons here had been stored for too long. they seemed over-chilled & not as fresh as nathalie's =)
ReplyDeleteFrom your photo, they do look like Nathalie's. Btw, Mandarin Cake Shop has a new calamansi flavour out as well as a festive one with cinnamon I think.
ReplyDeleteBaby Sumo: interesting; i'm not sure where i've put the receipt, but i guess buying the macarons here would be pricier than buying it at nathalie's. and thanks for the info on mandarin cake shop's flavors! will walk over & pick up a few if i'm at klcc this month :D
ReplyDeleteARE YOU KIDDING ME? THIS MUST BE A PRANK
ReplyDeletewhoaaaaaa... They have everything I wanna eat! Chocolate and green tea cake... The other cakes... And they seem to specialize in tea. Oh I need to bookmark this place
Rad: heheh, your sweet tooth will lead you to all sorts of places (and into all kinds of trouble, maybe!) :D
ReplyDeleteIf nothing change since I saw, their macarons from NGS :p and a bit more expensive as well ,lol
ReplyDeleteLemonadelime: ah, ok, thanks for the info! heheh, it's definitely better to purchase from nathalie's directly, if possible :D
ReplyDeleteHow can you have sweets at midnight?
ReplyDeleteMichelle: heheh, a sweet finish to the day :D
ReplyDeleteHeheh true true
ReplyDeleteRad: my tooth is usually salty :P
ReplyDeleteSeriously I want the mango cake right at this very moment haha
ReplyDeleteRad: hope you had sweet dreams about the cake! :D
ReplyDeleteYes, they are from Nathalies.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, u didnt try the new one outside beside Sephora?
Rebecca: ooo, now I'm wondering how many other outlets Nathalie supplies to. Oh nope, I haven't checked out the alfresco one. This is actually a backlogged entry, since the visit was a few months ago, heheh =)
ReplyDeleteThats a lot of sweet calories on the table =)
ReplyDeleteSmitten: heheh, sweet dreams are made of these, definitely =)
ReplyDeletewah RM38 for a cocktail? I think that's too expensive. I would have drank of a better whisky for that price.
ReplyDeletean awesome place to chill over tea and cakes especially when its super jam with humans and traffic outside. love the green tea cake here.
ReplyDeleteEiling: heh, yeah, the cocktails are definitely overpriced! but luckily they're not watered down though :D
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: yeah, and it's a good thing that its opening hours are super-convenient. from morning till really late at night, i think =)
