Chicago Rib House

Chicago Rib House has carved out a porky presence for months in Penang, but it's finally debuting now in the Klang Valley, promising a rib-tickling affair at 1 Utama.

Kentucky Bourbon ribs, slow-roasted over hickory wood for that succulent, savory smokiness that makes pork ribs irresistible. Finger-lickin' good _ more so than any ol' fried chicken.

For a visual treat, try the Flaming Kansas City ribs, fired up with a shot of whiskey at the table. CRH's ribs can be combined with other items for sharing platters; we like the pork tenderloin, lean but tender meat aptly described on the menu as being "grilled to pork-fection" & served with apple cinnamon sauce.

BOC Pork Burger, topped with bacon, onion rings & cheese. Excellently executed, though we wish CRH would go the whole hog & throw an egg into this too.

Rib orders come with two side dishes; choices include rice, corn, veggies & various potatoes. Everything's hearty, so come here on an empty stomach.

Chicago Rib House's signature cocktails are its Mojitos, from classic ones to flavors like lychee, peach, apple, melon, orange, berry & vanilla.

Kiwi fruit & nutty Mojitos (the latter seems laced with hazelnut frangelico liquor).

Caramel Martini & Rum Runner, pretty potent. Wine & beer are also available.

Service is praiseworthy _ amiable & efficient. We'd recommend CRH for hanging out with friends & family, though the place can get crowded & stuffy at peak hours.

  7. Ulric: i think some people will prefer morganfield's, some will prefer chicago. morganfield's ribs have a richer sauce, while chicago's ones seem more simple but are still satisfying =)
Dropsofcontentment: heheh, i wonder if beef will strike back anytime soon! at this rate, the availability of pork burgers might equal that of beef burgers in KL in a few years :D
Rad: heh, the outlet was quite packed when we reached it, though by the time we left, it was closing and had emptied out :D oops, there'll be porky photos on this blog at least once a week. heheh =)

Kenny: now that you've reminded me, i think i was rather tipsy after awhile, and i ended up gnawing on thos stalks! =)
KY: heheh, this was actually our post-dinner supper! otherwise, we'd have happily ordered a few more dishes :D

  9. I just saw this two days ago. Glad they got rid of that Jack's Place which wasn't doing well at all.

Will definitely walk in one day. And I'm glad 1 Utama's a fan of Pork.

  10. Qwazymonkey: oooh, i wasn't sure which restaurant got replaced by this ribs place. 1 utama always confuses me, especially with all the renovations & expansion. but yeah, i think i'd take 1 utama over KLCC if i had to choose between the two :D

  11. yippeee...a pork place in one utama!

  12. missyblurkit: yeah, i think dave's is still the best place for western pork dishes at one utama (the suckling pig & pastas there are so good!), but chicago rib house is still a very welcome addition to the mall! :D

  15. Yay! Yet another porky joint. But it's in 1U, a place I rarely go due to the traffic, its crazy crowd and lack of parking space.

  16. Chong: yeah, i used to frequent 1U more often in the late 1990s, but i try to avoid going there unless necessary nowadays. the mall's location is convenient for many of us though, heh :D

  20. J2kfm: yeah, i haven't been to the penang outlet, but it's in gurney plaza. supposed to be doing quite well there :D
Ulric: heheh, i think racks has a good marinade & sauce. something that feels less commercialized and more special =)
Iamthewitch: oooh, the next time you head to bukit damansara, on the same row as mezze, there's an outlet called 'ribs by vintry' that specializes in pork ribs, though it's the bigger type, not the baby-back ones :D
