Charlie, Snoopy & the rest of the Peanuts gang have found a new home at KLCC, in the nick of time to spread the Yuletide cheer.

This is Malaysia's second Charlie Brown Cafe; the first opened at Penang's Straits Quay several months ago, while another may launch later at Puchong's Setiawalk.

We stuck to sweets for this visit, ordering treats _ like this Lucy-adorned New York Cheesecake _ topped with chocolate miniatures & hand-made artwork of Charles Schulz's characters.

Snoopy mango cheesecake. Notwithstanding their novelty value, the taste & texture of these cakes fall short of expectations. Blame it on a palpably gelatinous artifice.

Woodstock blueberry cheesecake. Each small slice costs RM9.50; Charlie Brown Cafe's prices seem steep, but perhaps justifiable considering KLCC's rental rates.
Charlie Brown tiramisu. My favorite Peanuts character _ though really, nearly everyone in the comic strip is lovable. Even Sally Brown.

Chocolate mousse, with a somewhat off-kilter flavor & strange graininess (though we liked its creamy top). Based on desserts, the cafe needs tons of work in the food department; still, its fun surroundings make it worth a visit.

Charlie Brown Cafe Malaysia,
LC-207, 2nd Floor, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
Tried the one in penang but not this one...Wonder if it taste the same
ReplyDeleteLifestylekl: theoretically, it should taste the same, since the menu seems identical. Maybe if you liked the Penang branch, you could check out this KL one too :D
ReplyDeleteseems like everything is about branding.. my pockey burnt liao for the same thing i can get elsewhere.. perhaps even better... *sob*sob*
ReplyDeleteWhoisnell: ya, I can't quite recommend the cakes here. Dunno if the savory stuff _ sandwiches, pasta, rice dishes _ might fare better =)
ReplyDeleteu were fast!!!!thanks for sharing this...!!!^^
ReplyDeletei was searching for the share button for this post..=P
but only can share ur whole blog.nice update!!!=))
Yvonne: thank you for dropping by, and thanks for the kind words and the suggestion! I'll try to find out how to add a 'share' button on blogspot soon :D
ReplyDeleteOoh there's one in HK too. I think it's in tst. :D
ReplyDeleteSo can we conclude that the cafe is all branding and little real (food) substance? :P
ReplyDeleteI've seen the charlie brown cafe in SG too (not sure if it's the same franchise), haven't bothered trying it though cos a couple of friends posted bad opinions about it on FaceBook.
zomg! That is even real!
ReplyDeleteI've been playing the game on my iPad where Charlie and his friends throw a street fair selling goodies like cakes, etc. and this restaurant is just so awesome!
Look at those details on the cakes and everything else! Very dedicated
Darn...Guess I'll wait a while before visiting.. if I ever visit :P
ReplyDeleteawwwww.....glad to know that Charlie Brown has arrived KLCC. Currently so engross in playing Snoopy's Fair from my iPad. =)
ReplyDeletewah this is so cute. Ok i might go there for the cuteness factor.
ReplyDeleteMichelle: oh yeah, i think this cafe originally started in hong kong, then branched out worldwide :D
ReplyDeleteTiming: yikes, sounds like maybe the cafe encounters similar problems in various countries. hope they get their act together, since this would be a fun hangout for charlie brown fans :D
Rad: oooh, i haven't heard of that iPad game! sounds like good, clean fun! :D yeah, i wish some of the other minor Peanuts characters had their own cakes too ... especially Linus & Rerun! :D
ReplyDeleteThenomadgourmand: heheh, i strongly believe the cakes here so far will fail your taste test! i was surprised that they weren't better actually...
Melissathegreat: wow, sounds like there are lots of iPad Peanuts games! perfect for those of us who are nostalgic about the characters :D
ReplyDeleteEiling: heheh, yeah, but too bad for us that there's no alcohol whatsoever served here. not even beer. but ya, that's logical, since it's probably marketed as a family & teenage hangout :D
CUTE cafe! Although i'm not a huge Snoopy fan though.. hahaa.. more of a Garfield fan :P
ReplyDeleteIamthewitch: oooh, i wouldn't mind seeing a Garfield cafe open someday! serving lasagna, of course! heheh :D
ReplyDeleteOh well as soon as you mentioned those two characters in the end of your reply I became clueless who they are haha. But I do enjoy the game, yes. The yellow bird chicken thingy is also cute in the game.
ReplyDeleteI think lots of ppl would visit this place simply cos it's so cute.
ReplyDeleteRad: arrgggh! But that's not a chicken, it's Woodstock, a canary! :D
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: yeah, though I still wonder if that will enable it to survive for the long-run, heh =)
Hey I mentioned bird :p
ReplyDeleteits finally here! everything looks so cute and fun. a must visit for Charlie Brown fans!
ReplyDeletethe sight of the hot chocolate...i may not have the heart to drink till it changes shape.
Rad: heheh, chickens & canaries are almost as different as giraffes & zebras! :D
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: Heheh, snoopy is my second-favorite character in the comic. Would be kinda fun to have a dog like snoopy, maybe :D
No no I mentioned bird besides chicken :p
ReplyDeleteRad: okaaaaaaaaay :D
ReplyDeleteI love Charlie Brown... but I also love tasty food & drinks, so... :P
ReplyDeleteNooo you just okaaaaaaaay-ed me
ReplyDeleteHeheh I was kidding :p
Oh that means you love to eat Charlie Brown, Kenny!
ReplyDeleteKenny: ahhh, a dilemma! forced to choose between who you love more! :D
ReplyDeleteRad: heheh, luckily you didn't call snoopy a cat instead of a dog :D
Never thought of you as a "Snoopy" person. Hehe...
ReplyDeleteI think this place will be more of rif's interest. :)
Bangsar-babe: heheh, i grew up reading the Peanuts comic strips daily in the pages of the NST (or was it The Star. hmmmm). so all those cuddly creatures like snoopy, garfield & hobbes have a special place in my heart :D
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for the hint :p
ReplyDeleteRad: you're always welcome! heheh =)
ReplyDeleteI just went KLCC the day before and never noticed this!! Which part of klcc is it in??
ReplyDeleteVien: it's slightly hidden in a corridor, on the parkson side of the mall, on the 2nd floor =)
ReplyDeleteOmgosh! I clearly wasn't looking around! HAHA I didn't even know that there was a Parkson in Klcc!!
ReplyDeletevien: hehe, yeah, it's isetan on one side and parkson on the other wing! :D
ReplyDeleteMe love Snoopy! :)
ReplyDeleteCiki: he's the best dog ever!!! :D
ReplyDeleteWill probably make a stop there the next time I go to KLCC... that is, if I can find it.
ReplyDeleteOne question: Is the taste of the hot chocolate more chocolate-y or milky? Thanks.
Oh, and Happy New Year.
Synical: thanks! And to you too =) hmmm, I'd say milkier than chocolatey, but maybe that's because it reminded me a bit of Milo :D
ReplyDeleteWe tried to eat there but the kids wouldn't touch anything on the menu besides the desserts and shakes! It's a cute place, but I was surprised there wasn't so much as a chicken nugget on the menu.
ReplyDeleteCosonthebrink: i didn't really look at the list of savories, but ya, i'm surprised to hear there aren't good savory snacks to tempt the young ones :D
ReplyDeleteOjalá tenga la oportunidad de conocer uno de estos cafés, soy fanática de la serie, y colecciono los muñecos.
ReplyDeleteSaludos ;)
