Drink & be merry! Maduro & De Solvang are two watering holes, one at TTDI & the other at Solaris Mont Kiara _ a 10-minute drive from each other, using the excellent Penchala Link.
First up, Maduro _ a handsome TTDI cigar lounge, free from crowds on weekday evenings.
Food wasn't available on our not-so-recent visit here (months ago, eeeks!), but we were satisfied with red wine at about RM16 a glass.
Next up, De Solvang _ not one of Mont Kiara's high-profile watering holes, but still worth a stop.
De Solvang's menu is wide, featuring snacks such as Haitian Chicken Wraps _ tortillas filled with meat marinated in rum & Coke. Sounded unusual, but tasted unmemorable. Or maybe we were too tipsy to remember.
Decent drinks at decent prices: Japanese Slipper (midori, cointreau, lemon juice) & Walking On The Beach (What's in this cocktail? We forget. But we think Sex On The Beach is better).
The Japanese Slipper looks good. How did it taste? I remember Japanese Slipper being quite a sickening green slime look. This looks "fresh".
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: yikes, honestly, this might have been my first Japanese Slipper in many years! and also, this was at the end of a long night of eating & drinking, so i can't recall much about the cocktail. it looks & sounds tangy & refreshing though, heheh :D
ReplyDeletePenchala link is god-send :)
ReplyDeleteI like where Maduro is, quiet and low-key. But cigars are wasted on me too!
Maybe the Walking on the Beach was a prelude to the classic and more famous cocktail of a similar moniker? :P
ReplyDeleteNinety nine bottles....
ReplyDeleteOne more to a hundred!
:p
Oh no food photos at all. So what did you eat?
Gonna be out drinking and be merry tonight? :)
ReplyDeleteTNG: yeah, imagine without the penchala link, we'd probably go through the sprint highway to get from mont kiara to TTDI. an extra 30-minute drive maybe! :D
ReplyDeleteKenny: sounds like someone's speaking from experience! hope you didn't get sand caught in inconvenient crevices! :D
Rad: and then just 900 more to a thousand, heheh. oh, i think we had some japanese food before that. sushi, with lotsa rice to suck up the alcohol =)
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: probably not as much drinking as expected, but will hopefully still be merry. here's wishing you & your family a safe & joyous celebration! =)
How drunk were you by the end of the night? :P
ReplyDeleteBangsar-babe: not as bad as it can get! on a scale of 1 to 10, i'd say only 7 or 8 :D
ReplyDeletenot a drinking person so i'll be celebrating xmas with a straight face. kekekekeke.
ReplyDeleteMichelle: no worries, i hope you'll still have a very enjoyable x'mas :D
ReplyDeleteooh goody goody there's a cigar lounge in town. I'll be there~
