KL City Walk isn't the smashing success we hoped it would be, but some of the eateries here might be worth one or two visits.
Aural serves Italian & Western food, but everything on the menu that we wanted to try on a recent evening _ from risotto to cod fish _ was unavailable. We settled for a so-so salad comprising cashews, Granny Smith apples & assorted greens. The portion was massive, but its tame, vegetarian-friendly flavors failed to thrill the taste buds.
Creative candy-based cocktails are Aural's true attraction. Sugar lovers might adore the Kandi Bubble Gum (baileys, peppermint liquor, vanilla ice cream & gummy fish).
Surf To Paradise (vodka, baileys, vanilla ice cream, peach, Oreo cookies, Snickers).
We've got a hot one tonight: Ferrero Good Cheer (hot chocolate, vodka raspberry, creme de cacao, ferrero rocher, cream).
Will we return? Maybe not; the cocktails seem pleasant, but there's scant evidence that the rest of the food might prove outstanding. Let us know if we're wrong.
Aural,
KL City Walk, Off Jalan P. Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur.
Hey...the entrance near Impiana Hotel is right next to where I work...any other interesting restos?
ReplyDeleteTot I saw a sign advertising mee rebus :)
items were unavailable coz they finished selling or still going thru teething issues ~ i do reckon this place is rather new?
ReplyDeleteferrero good cheer looks like a happy drink though. how's the taste?
Ulric: oh, there's a viva mocha (for coffee & sandwiches), leko-leko (keropok lekor with strange dips like cheese & black pepper), nine berries (yogurt) & the pho expert (name self-explanatory) :D
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: the staff said they were out of stock, but I'm not sure if they were just out of stock for the day or out of stock for the week, heheh. the ferrero cocktail would be nice if you like the chocolate. it's milky & nutty =)
Thanx...gonna check out d Pho Expert n hunt for d mee rebus place :l
ReplyDeleteI think the cocktails are rather interesting but like you said, the food is equally important too.
ReplyDeleteThe cocktails look very dessert-ish...
ReplyDeleteUlric: good luck! Hearing very mixed feedback about pho expert. Some folks really like it, some have hated it =)
ReplyDeleteEiling: yeah, the tagline of aural is "the food of conversation," but it didn't feel like they were paying enough attention to their food to make it as interesting as their cocktails...
Michelle: oh yeah, They've got a great range of cocktails here that use various candy & chocolate as ingredients :D
Looks more like a drinks place, no? Aural drinks, that is. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the best place for Pho in KL, in your opinion?
kenny: hmmm, Sao Nam at tengkat tong shin does a mean bowl of beef pho. vietnamese noodle soup that's totally authentic, pho sure (heheh) :D
ReplyDeleteUpdate...Pho Expert is OK lar...but d sauce tat they serve with their fresh spring rolls is different...nutty with a spicy aftertaste :)
ReplyDeleteSaigon Village (diagonally across from Imbi Palace) still serves d best meats (beef, lamb, duck) and spring rolls...imo :D
Salad looks a bit meh but the cocktails look interesting! :)
ReplyDeleteUlric: ooh, I've noticed Saigon village, but never managed to check it out! :D
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: yeah, we had trouble finishing the salad, but problem finishing the cocktails, heheh =)
Hehe...I shud warn u...Saigon V's deco is pretty basic n old-fashioned :D
ReplyDeleteUlric: no worries, the most important part is the food, I guess :D
ReplyDeleteNever actually made it there but have guest over soon so I'm likly to be walking around KL and try and check it out
ReplyDeleteMan: hope you find something you like here! I've heard that some of the outlets here are closed on Sundays, though am not sure =)
ReplyDeleteThey hosted my hen's night, and the food was quite decent -- especially the pizzas. But you're right...they really need to iron out the teething issue.
ReplyDeleteHad so many cocktails that night, I was on their bartop. Hahaha! :P
bangsar-babe: oooo, i must have been kinda blur, cos i didn't notice pizzas on the menu! heheh, but it sounds like everyone who visits this place enjoys the cocktails! :D
