Souled Out has opened its second outpost, storming into Ampang with the kind of food, cocktails & vibe for which its long-entrenched Hartamas trailblazer is renowned.
A familiar fusion favorite: the Sake San wood-fired pizza, abundantly topped with salmon sashimi, cherry tomatoes, lolorosso, mayo & a touch of wasabi. This seemed more impressive when we first tried it several years ago in Hartamas, but it still nicely encapsulates Souled Out's doctrine of dishing out comfort food filled with fresh ingredients.
Sunset Beach (vodka, melon liquor, amaretto, cranberry juice) & Strawberry Dreams (vodka, bailey's, strawberry ice cream, strawberry puree, strawberries).
Cosmopolitan Long Island & Watermelon Mojito. Souled Out's cocktails are potent enough to please, though the current selection at Ampang is not as wide as Hartamas'.
For even more challenging cocktails, take a five-minute drive to Tate at The Intermark, where manager-mixologist Kevin's latest creation is his own spin on the Bloody Mary, featuring the freshest of tomatoes, roasted capsicum & a triple whammy of pepper, chili flakes & Cayenne pepper for a spectacularly complex spiciness that lingers on the palate.
To wrap up, some more shots of Souled Out, our recent refuge from rain.

The strawberry dreams looks rich and creamy... is it as nice as it looks?
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: yep, I really liked it! It's like a cross between a milkshake and a cocktail. Usually they use haagen-dazs strawberry ice cream to make it =)
ReplyDeleteThe Sake San's been consistently the order of the day for me but hark! Where's all the mayo drizzle come from? Have I really been consuming all that without realising it?
ReplyDeletethe strawberry dreams looks like a chocolate drink... for some reason
ReplyDeleteOoh Menara HSC's looking more happening by the day. But still - Jalan Ampang traffic! :(
ReplyDeleteMin: mayo maketh the pizza! I'm assuming since they can't use a tomato or teriyaki base for this one, mayo's the way to go, to get that creamy feel! =)
ReplyDeleteMichelle: could be the lighting! It tasted unmistakably strawberry, heheh :D
Kenny: and with the somerset serviced apartments right here as well, the outlet is almost guaranteed a constant customer base. No wonder it even opens for brekkie, if I saw the sign right :D
Haven't been to Souled Out for ages. The last I tried was the Sake San pizza and I liked it. The Strawberry Dreams looks thick!
ReplyDeleteHmm... all look familiar...the pizza and all! Unless it's a holiday or weekend, venturing into Ampang is quite unlikely for me :P
ReplyDeleteNeed to get me some Sake San! I really rate the cocktails at Tate, very high mixology standard!
ReplyDeletechong: their original outlet at hartamas is still flourishing, i hope! i guess it does well especially whenever there are sports events to watch on the big screen outside :D
ReplyDeletepureglutton: heheh, lots of public holidays coming up next week! but i know what you mean: even though i work in the city, i'm scared of venturing into ampang! =)
hungry female: yeah, tate's cocktails look pricey on the menu, but for sheer satisfaction, they're much worth it than the run-of-the-mill, watered-down concoctions elsewhere! :D
One pizza only? That's all? So surprised! :P
ReplyDeleteckiong: heheh, alcohol was more important than food for this evening! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, if it's weekend brekkie Devil and I may be more likely to make it. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteAnd why was that particular evening so special that alcohol was more important than food har? ;)
kenny: maybe i'll bump into you both here someday for brekkie. oh, who am i kidding. i wouldn't be able to get out of bed that early :D hmmmm, cos it was a long work day and we wanted to get sloshed? surely you can empathize, heheh...
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten sloshed in yonks. Lead a relatively stress-free life now, hooray! :)
ReplyDeletekenny: the true question would be: would you LIKE to get sloshed sometime. heheh :D
ReplyDeletesake pizza is my fave!
ReplyDeleteBabe_KL: heheh, I guess that's why it's their signature pizza! I bet it'll be on the menu forever! :D
ReplyDeleteNah. One glass or two with dinner is all I'll do these days. Pleasantly inebriated is what I'd aim for, if at all.
ReplyDeletekenny: ahh, i like both "pleasantly" and "inebriated," so i can't argue with that :D
ReplyDeleteThe drinks looked interesting with everything that you featured and I haven't try before, not even the Bloody Mary!
ReplyDeleteEiling: yeah, I love it when they put some creative effort into their cocktails! It helps keep things interesting =)
