Grand Salon

Fans of horses should gallop over to this hotel lobby lounge, where the massive centerpiece is an equine sculpture that might inspire either awe or derision.

Potent pleasure: wild stallions couldn't keep us away from the Cranberry Margarita & Angel Kiss (creme de cacao, milk).

Apple Martini & sherry-laced Spanish coffee.

Grand Salon,
Palace of the Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur.

  5. Porch: errrmmm. okays... actually, a friend did ask me whether I thought sashimi shipments might be disrupted in the days to come. of course, I honestly don't know, and I realize it's not what we should be worried about...

  7. Porch: nah, many outlets in KL receive shipments before dinnertime on Fridays, so that should tide them over for several days...

  9. J: if only it could be a successful diet plan, heh! but i fear cocktails have as much sugar and overall calories as some junk food! (p.s. hope u're enjoying some excellent cocktails in langkawi!)

  10. Do you not find those horse statutes at the entrance of the hotel creepy, in an ominous Sleepy Hollow manner? It's usually a lonely drive back home after dropping my guest at the hotel...GULP!

  11. Min: yikes, now that you mention it ... gulp! whoever sculpted them must have possessed the twisted, manic imagination of tim burton. but thankfully, there've been no reports of the horsies coming to life, a la 'night at the museum' (phew!) :D

  12. Ah the palace may well be past their prime... Kinda sad looking place the last time I was there for a lunch meeting. Poor golden horsies... :(
