The Cream & Fudge Factory's signboard has been up at Fahrenheit 88 since September, teasing us for months with the promise of super-smooth ice cream. When this surprisingly small outlet (with five tables) finally opened, we wasted no time securing our sweet scoops.
The concept at this Thai-founded franchise is fun and creative: choose a few ice cream flavors, then roll them up with nuts, fruits, candy & fudge over a frozen marble stone. It takes mere minutes to triumphantly serve everything on a crisp waffle bowl.
This "Chocolate Truffle Sensation," comprising cookie dough & chocolate ice cream with Ferrero Rocher & hazelnuts, delivered a marvelously milky taste and velvety texture for RM12.90. The Cream & Fudge Factory's boast that it whips up the world's creamiest ice cream is debatable, but we'll still rank this with Ben & Jerry's best.
Customers can concoct their own combinations; we happily indulged in a threesome of French vanilla, peanut butter & caramel ice cream, thrown together with Mars candy bars, brownies & marshmallows (all for RM22.50). There's endless room for experimentation; we'd love to try the other ice cream flavors _ including cheesecake, green apple & rum raisin _ and mix-ins like Maltesers, blueberry pie & caramel fudge.
Ice cream shakes are also available, though prices for these are kinda high at RM16.50 a pop. The Bubble Gum and Sweet Cream flavors were not too thick, not too thin; not too sugary, not too bland. Just right? Almost.
