Business & pleasure make a marvellous match at Coffee In Common, the resident cafe of the ravishing new Common Ground communal work space, where members & walk-in customers can savour a sprawling view of Damansara Heights & beyond from a sixteenth-floor, 1,600-square-metre penthouse that strives to channel the spirit of mid-century Scandinavian interiors.
While the sheen of this venue's accomplished aesthetics will turn Coffee In Common into a magnet for shutterbugs, the food & beverages rise on their own merit, propelled by polished industry talents. Noted chef Nik Michael Imran has crafted a menu that confidently caters to multiple preferences, with the smoked duck soba (RM17), nasi lemak with sambal sotong (RM13) & mushroom pesto lasagna (RM15) hitting pleasurable notes for flavour & freshness, well-executed enough to belong in the repertoire of respectable Japanese, Malaysian & Italian eateries. And with the League Of Captains cafe's friendly barista-founder Danial Naim currently in charge of the coffee here, you know you'll receive a commanding flat white (RM11) that'll fuel you for a few more hours at the laptop - all work & no piccolo lattes make us deranged boys & girls.
The cafe is open to the public (simply register at security first), but to explore the entirety of Common Grounds' facilities, including shared workspaces, reserved desks & private offices (some with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers), plus meeting rooms & a complete infrastructure to support freelancers & independent businesses, make an appointment for a tour (check out commonground.work for information). We're fans of the spacious set-up, relaxed enough to keep stress & claustrophobia at bay, while striking the right balance of calm professionalism & freewheeling creativity to reinvigorate our productive juices.
