Ostro, Fish Market & Dolphin Safari @ Auckland

Ostro's vantage point overlooking the Waitemata Harbour makes this modern brasserie a striking setting for delicious dining that's strong in seafood - line-caught tuna with edamame, peas, wasabi mayonnaise & pickled karengo; Cloudy Bay clams; & a thick, creamy omelette flavourfully laced with smoked kahawai fish, Hollandaise sauce & watercress

The Auckland Fish Market features a calm, leafy courtyard where visitors can indulge in the freshest catch - ravishingly sweet & fleshy Clevedon Coast oysters are a should-try, along with the ota ika, a Polynesian recipe that evokes Latin ceviche, with tender chunks of raw white fish marinated in citrus juices & coconut milk, tossed with red peppers & cassava.

Out to sea: A 'dolphin safari' yields sightings of dozens of wild dolphins in the Hauruki Gulf, a short boat ride from Auckland.

  1. I think I was here - "from the sea to your plate", the catch line.
