Absolutely one of our favourite Auckland eateries (& clearly popular among the locals too), this NYC-inspired delicatessen delves into a smorgasbord of Jewish staples, with plenty of North American crowd-pleasers in the mix. The matzo ball soup is tasty & textured; the latkes with lox, creme fraiche & dill are well worth the calories; the bagel with house-made pastrami, Swiss cheese, habanero mustard & pickles is perfectly constructed & proportioned. Have the Montreal poutine for snacking, a lovely pumpkin pie to wrap up, & cocktails infused with Dr Brown's NY Cherry Soda & Cola Nut to wash everything down.

Wowwwww!!! The crowd! That pretty girl there looks a bit like my niece. :D
ReplyDeleteSuituapui: maybe that could your niece! :) but yes, it was a lively crowd here, deservedly so for the outlet ;)
DeleteOhhh.. NZ!
ReplyDeleteHope u got some pics to show me the next time we meet! Is it as beautiful as those postcard images? :D
Rebecca: ooo, i stayed in auckland most of the time, so i didn't venture to many of the postcard places ... but yes, it's definitely a lovely country that's worth travelling to ;)
DeleteThe question that always crops up in my mind whenever I see your post on Auckland is, why are all the awesome cafes arriving after my departure?
ReplyDeleteI like it how Auckland has adopted more of the nightlife. It wasn't active during my time there. The meals that Federal Delicatessen offers on the menu are superb. I don't see much of Montreal poutine here - and the last one I had carried a spicy and cheesy twang in it, lol.
Ciana: haha - it might be auckland's way of saying, come back! but you're right, auckland's restaurants were relatively quiet at night compared to lunch - i could always find a table at night, but daytime was tricky ;) it's not easy to find good poutine in kl too ... so i knew i had to order it here! :D
