Closer Kitchen & Espresso Bar @ Mutiara Damansara

Closer tries to go the distance to be distinctive with a sun-drenched, plant-adorned setting to complement its amiable offerings.

The cafe puts its own spin on brunch fare, inserting an unexpected ingredient or two into every recipe. Baked eggs emerge in a sizzling pan, bolstered by meatballs & a slice of roasted pumpkin (RM15), while scrambled eggs seem to borrow inspiration from Dr Seuss, mixed with pesto sauce for striking shades of Sam-I-Am & paired with foil-baked portobello mushroom (RM18).

Closer's sandwiches & pie are also unconventional, courtesy of their fillings - meat & fruits (pulled duck & lychee or pulled beef brisket & peach) for the former (RM18) & salmon-stuffed with melted cheese & spinach for the latter (RM18). Textures could be tweaked - the sandwich proved too sloppy to handle & the pie pastry seemed underdone - but we like the prices.

Closer serves one of the Klang Valley's most satisfying chai lattes (RM13; Melbourne Prana Chai). Coffee's thoughtfully chosen & executed, while for hot-weather relief, the Winter Citrus Yuzu chilled soda (RM10) tastes like its name suggests.

  2. This place has become one of my fav places to go for coffee lately... Love its natural lighting, high ceiling and minimalist design... And the parking right in front of the cafe.
I agree that the sandwich was sloppy (just had it last Saturday) and the pulled duck needed more seasoning and taste. Coffee on the other hand.. Was of good quality.
I was wondering when you will post on this place and there it is :)

  5. Is there a Close anywhere? Like Fierce and Fiercer? That baked eggs with pumpkin and all in the pan look so good! I'd love the sandwiches too but no, I prefer my scrambled eggs creamy and soft.
