A potential household name for KL's coffee buffs, Podgy & The Banker has more to offer than merely a fun moniker; this cafe serves caffeine with a kick.
Dynamic duo Neil & Adam are the baristas behind this spacious, smartly outfitted outlet that opened this week in the perfect location: the suburban row of Hartamas shop-houses that's home to My Elephant & Fru-T-Pop.
Sumatran Mandheling Kuda Mas coffee beans form the heart of a lovable latte here.
Our macchiato looks mildly melancholy; strange, considering how cheerful this cafe seems. Though maybe it's because Lana Del Rey's playing in the background.
Sandwiches, pastries, cakes & everything else associated with a full-fledged hangout will likely be made available in the days to come.
Bricks is a cozy-enough cafe; Damansara Perdana has long been a wasteland for coffee lovers, but this oasis of Colombia Supremo beans is no mirage.
The latte's not too shabby (RM9); somewhere in the could-be-better, could-be-worse category.
Try the affogato (RM12), with double-shot espresso & Forty Licks salted caramel ice cream.
And the name? Lots of exposed bricks here, but Bricks might also refer to the owners' experience in both the F&B & real estate sectors. Here's hoping this tentative start, with sandwiches & other food to come soon, is sufficient foundation for Bricks' eventual success.
