Wurst @ MOV Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Meet KL's wurst restaurant: Tucked on a subterranean level of the Bukit Bintang neighbourhood's MOV boutique hotel, this distinctively designed spot (check out the slide that patrons can supposedly take to swiftly reach the restaurant from the lobby) specialises in a smorgasbord of sausages, plus plenty of meatballs, kebabs and koftas.

Wurst will soon be serving its own kitchen-made sausages, which we bet will be tasty and textured. When we visited recently, the venue was still offering commercially produced sausages, but these were sufficiently satisfying - our platter of lamb merguez with mutton and chicken-with-cheese sausages (RM60) proved well-executed, supplying the necessary flavour and bite, complemented by mustard, sriracha and pickles. You can choose your favourite sausages from the chiller, which also holds smoked beef and bone marrow.

Bolster your meal further with meaty recipes like the chicken kebabs with a citrus saffron glaze (RM16), veal meatballs with caper cream sauce and nutmeg oil (RM16) and lamb patties with curry mustard and piquillo pepper sauce (RM16) - terrific for tapas enthusiasts, these solid small plates underscore a sturdy sense of skill and nuanced effort.

Still, it's not completely a carnivores' club: Pescetarians and vegetarians have several possible picks, including tenderly poached salmon with ratatouille, hollandaise and pepper coulis (RM18) and creamy hummus sprinkled with avocado and tomatoes (RM15). All in all, Wurst isn't a bad choice for folks seeking something interesting in  Changkat BB's surroundings.
