Merrow Pasta @ Subang Jaya

We admire how Merrow takes the extra effort to make its own pasta in variations like spinach fettuccine & tomato spaghetti. And we appreciate that the price of nearly every plate is kept south of RM20. But the pasta here begs to be saved from suffocating sauces like the wafu mentai (RM19.80 with three large prawns) & the synthetically sweet tomato & herbs (RM18.80 with crab sticks). Chicken-stuffed ravioli with sage butter sauce (RM12.80 as an appetiser) highlights the conditions to calibrate: Pasta needs to taste more unprocessed than this, buoyed by equally market-fresh meat, seafood & vegetables, with better-balanced herbs & spices. As it stands, Merrow currently works best if stomach-stuffing is your key criterion for pasta.

  1. Those yellow lights again. Do they actually need so many bulbs? Other than affecting the photos, I find them very hot as well - the heat they radiate.

    1. Suituapui: i guess it depends on the interior designer, who may feel like the lights are needed to add an effect to the setting :)

  2. Why are all the restaurants serving good food opening in my little town after I've left Subang? *shakes head with a sign*

    1. Ciana: heh, yeah, subang has become quite a booming scene over the past couple of years :)

  3. Even before I got to your write-up, the first thing that crossed my mind was why the pasta was swimming in so much sauce! >.<

    1. Contact.ewew: yeah, i think there is a local market for very creamy, sauce-soaked pastas, but this turned out too heavy for my preference ...

  4. I think there will be fan for those pasta drenched in sauce, but definitely not me >_<

    1. Choi Yen: yep, i like sauces, but not too much ;)
