Nosh, Tipple & Brew @ Bangunan Ming, Bukit Nanas

Upbeat eats in downtown KL: This new brasserie serves a cheerful, something-for-everyone selection that spans both East & West; top temptations include a satisfyingly spiced mutton jalfrezi with a substantial portion of pretty tender meat (RM28), pumpkin gnocchi that most Italian restaurants would be reasonably proud of (RM30), a crisp Asian salad of pomelo, jackfruit, green mangoes & jicama in a Thai-inspired mild coconut dressing (RM26), & savoury duck confit with polenta, baby French beans, apple chutney & lots of jus (RM38). The coffee bar is helmed by barista Vin Pravin, a respected veteran of the city's caffeine landscape, offering takeaways for RM6. For those of us who need something stronger, wine is available all day long.

  1. Isn't there a classy fine dining restaurant by this same name some place else? This is a branch or a spin off or something different altogether? Bukit Nanas, that would be where St John's Cathedral is? Where Boom Bomm Room was once, right next door? ;)

    1. Suituapui: there has been another previous restaurant called Nosh in KL, but there's no relation that I know of :) hmmm, this is pretty near st john's, yup ... and the building also now houses one of asia's best cocktail bars, called omakase & appreciate :D

  2. This is in a very old part of the town centre...the place looks huge. I remembered the road leading to this old building as rather dark and quiet, just a bit further up from St John's Cathedral, I think.

    1. Contact.ewew: yeah, it's just off dang wangi and other institutions like yut kee ... almost walking distance from my old office actually - i've probably driven past this road a few thousand times over the course of more than a decade ;)

  3. Everyone will find something to eat ya, hehe.
We were thinking to make gnocchi for one of the weekend kitchen, but at the end too lazy, lol.

    1. CK: heh, yeah, even my grandmom would find something to try here ;) real homemade gnocchi sounds good - if you ever decide to make it, you know who to invite to try! ;)

  4. I like the interior as well as the looks of that gnocchi, however the portion of the salad is a bit small though~

    1. Choi Yen: yeah, the gnocchi was one of my top two favourites here. you're kinda right though about the salad, which was a bit less hearty than expected ;)
