Major Sprout & Little Bird Unbakery @ Auckland

Breakfast of contrasts: A devil-may-care Big Fill platter of thick-cut bacon, succulent pork belly, poached eggs, lamb sausage, agria potato rosti, avocado, sourdough toast & butter, alongside a more conscientious Acai Bowl that's thick with seasonal fruits & house-toasted nut crunch - both choices prove equally excellent, washed down with a Sprouting Green smoothie made of kale, spirulina, mango & pineapple juice. Major Sprout is majorly delicious.

21 Graham Street, Auckland, New Zealand

Imaginative plant-based fare - check out Little Bird's raw bread bagels topped with BLAT (coconut bacon, lettuce, avocado & tomato) & the acai bowl with fresh berries, 'grawnola' & coconut yoghurt, plus wholesome beverages like kombucha with nettle tea & ginger. The spacious exposed-brick setting with a soaring ceiling makes for a very inviting lunch venue.

  1. I enjoyed the Big Breakfast anywhere in New Zealand, can't go wrong with sausage, ham and bacon...plus egg.
