Christmas' cutest gifts might be edible ones: KL home baker Crumbs & Melbourne patisserie LuxBite have combined forces to offer Yuletide-themed macarons that'll have dessert aficionados going ho-ho-ho.
Crumbs, run by mother-of-three Aleena (who estimates she has baked 27,000-plus macarons), supplies the charm factor: designer chocolate macarons with hazelnut praline, resembling Santa, a snowman & teddy bears. They taste as terrific as regular macarons.
LuxBite, spearheaded Down Under by Malaysian-born Bernard & Yen, furnishes the fun flavors: Peanut Butter & Jelly (sticky-savory), Ribena Lemonade (perky), Watermelon & Guava (fruity) & Mandarin Jaffa (tangy-chocolaty).
Available through Dec. 25 at 1 Utama, sold at a kiosk outside Isetan on the old wing's first floor.
A box of four macarons (two each by Crumbs & LuxBite) costs RM30, with deliveries possible throughout the Klang Valley for a RM20 fee. LuxBite macarons are flown in weekly; ours tasted as fresh as most KL-made macarons we've enjoyed.
Tantalizing tidbit: Crumbs' macarons are completely hand-piped without molds. See www.facebook.com/crumbs.macaron for more info.
Thanks to Aleena for these macarons & helping to make this season sweeter.
Bonus sugar stop: popping into The Bee at Publika for cakes & cocktails.
Grab the last slice of The Last Slice cake maker's rainbow-hued cheer-spreader at The Bee.
Cupcakes haven't faded away: The Bee offers homemade ones by Pinkies. Red velvet, chocolate & vanilla. See www.facebook.com/pinkiescupcakeskl.
The Bee's Paloma (tequila, grapefruit juice, soda, lime) & Kopi Kao Kao coffee-beer combo.

The Christmas themed macarons are really adorable!
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: yaaa, almost too cute to consume! Painstakingly created with passion =)
DeleteLove the cute macarons. Going to be a tough feat to eat them though.
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: that's true, at first! Though once you've sunk your teeth into their crispy-creamy deliciousness, it will be difficult to stop! Heh =)
DeleteI like the teddy bear's one the most, so cute! :D
ReplyDeleteCK: hahah, yes, the teddy bear is my favorite too :D
DeleteThe macarons will be great gifts for Christmas parties. The baker should offer baking classes!
ReplyDeleteFootfringe: heheh, but we'd probably need a whole year of practice in order to create macarons this nice! :D
DeleteI love that coffee and beer combo! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Malaysian-Melbourne team up looks promising too. Looks like a great gift (for myself). Heh. It looks delicious and would be good as a stocking stuffer in addition to other gifts for loved ones.
Huai Bin: heh, i'm usually not a fan of beer, so the coffee made it more interesting :D oh yeah, if you like macarons, then give yourself a treat. and yeah, a gift box of macarons could complement your other presents for those special people =)
DeleteFor a second I was wondering why luxbite sounded so familiar! I think their macarons r ok but their cakes are better. Best part their shop is only but a 5 min drive from home!
ReplyDeleteJoe: that's awesome! maybe someday their cakes will be available in KL too. and a five-minute drive sounds super convenient :D
DeleteGOSHHH! CUTE MAXXXXX!!! <3 I wish somebody could buy for me...(cause there is no point buying for myself );PPPPPP . Nice macaroons anyway!^^
ReplyDeleteEunice: heheh, here's hoping that maybe you'll get some of these cute macarons as a surprise christmas gift this month! :D
DeleteLooks so sweet, im bouncing off the walls, just reading your post :P
ReplyDeleteCiki: heheh, sweet dreams are made of theeeeeeese :D
DeleteSaw them macarons the other day - a bit too dear for my wallet, even with the ONECARD members' discount they had :P
ReplyDeleteLifeasacynic: true, RM7.50 per macaron is definitely pricey. but i sincerely believe it's justifiable, since two of the macarons are flown in from down under, while the other two require extra labor to craft so carefully. oooh, and the beautifully designed packaging is worth paying for too, heh ...
DeleteSo adorable! Good as gifts during this festive season, i guess!
ReplyDeletePureglutton: yeah, kids will squeal with delight upon seeing these as gifts! :D
Deleteahhh the santa and teddy bears are so cute. how could anyone eat them?!!
ReplyDeleteEiling: heheh, they taste as delicious as they look! :D
DeleteThat Christmas macarons are so cute! I can see the filling is quite thick oso...
