The Butchers Club @ Singapore & Huxtaburger @ Melbourne

The Butchers Club, with venues in Hong Kong & Bali, opened its first Singaporean joint at Clarke Quay in 2015, specialising in burgers you can really sink your teeth into, with flavour-packed beef patties produced with dry-aged ground rump, chuck & brisket meat. The selection is compact, but our best bet for a one-of-a-kind burger is the greasy-spoon Wu Tang Style ($25), featuring a sriracha-fried patty topped with cheese, kimchi, kewpie mayo & sweet potato tempura. Pair with duck fat fries ($8), a shot of American Knob Creek small-batch bourbon ($17) & an Aviation cocktail for the exemplary trillion-calorie supper.

3A, River Valley Road, Singapore. Daily, 12pm till at least 10pm.

Huxtaburger has been hailed as one of Melbourne's most satisfying burger hangouts; we won't argue with that, since we loved its 'Bills' ($13.50; named after Cosby), a towering creation that boasts a Huxtaburger signature beef patty, bacon (lots of bacon!) mustard, mayo, tomato sauce, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, pickles, a fried egg, pineapple & beetroot. Order a glass of wine to enjoy with your burger, take a table outside this tiny outlet & watch the pedestrians of Smith Street go peacefully by.

106 Smith Street, Collingwood, Melbourne, Australia.
