Thanksgiving @ Shah Alam & Hot Stuff @ Damansara Jaya

If we were feeling hungry enough, we'd probably be pretty grateful for Thanksgiving's assortment of East Asian rice platters, served fresh & hot, from the Taiwanese-influenced 'lu rou fan' of braised pork & hard-boiled egg with rice (RM7.80) to the Japanese-inflected karaage don with deep-fried chicken in teriyaki sauce (RM10.80). No-fuss fare at suitably moderate prices.

Hot Stuff specialises in rice bowls & sandwiches that sizzle with cross-border inspirations - beef-or-chicken preparations come partnered with Korean kimchi, Japanese teriyaki sauce, Thai chilli mayo, Italian tomato paste, American cheese, Malaysian satay sauce, Oriental garlic-coriander dressing or Mexican pepper spices. We tried the latter two, which featured mild but pleasant flavours. Both the rice & sandwiches are sold at RM9.50 with chicken, RM12.50 with beef (RM1.50 for optional egg).
