Living Food Bistro @ Tan & Tan, Tun Razak

Checking back into Living Food, where the kitchen's constantly cooking something new.
Earlier Living Food entries: Jan. 5, 2012; Jan. 19, 2012; Oct. 24 & Nov. 3.

Start with salads: this "Mekong" one (RM18+) is a hearty-tasty Asian mix of glass noodles, spiral carrots, cucumber & caramelized onions in kaffir lime dressing.

Soup's up! Hot & healthy, we like both the roast mushroom & lentil soups, the former laced with crunchy hemp seeds, the latter with cauliflower.

Ceviche isn't the province of only Peruvian outlets: Living Food serves this raw-marinated fish too, using jade perch with spiral veggies & lemongrass sambal (RM22+).

Sorta like shepherd's pie: a mash-topped stew of mushrooms, zucchini, carrots & lentils.

Sorta like sushi: a "maki" of quinoa, avocado, mango & cucumber in "nori" rolls. Delicious.

Raw granola gets the star treatment here: Munch on them plain or have them with bananas & strawberries in granola milk for a creative cereal.

Desserts can't get healthier than this black forest brownie (RM12+), a pleasurably fruity-nutty cake made with almond flour & walnuts, blanketed in cashew cream.

Love this one too: Salted caramel gateau (RM12+), a vegan concoction of dehydrated apples coated in salted caramel with macadamias & medjool dates.

Surprise bonus salad stop: Neroteca might be best known as a sanctuary for swine, but there's a sweeping selection of salads here too.
Earlier entries on Nero Teca: Feb. 2009 & June 2012.

Mediterranean mix topped with Asiago cheese (RM26+), plus a grilled veggie combo with olives, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes & smoked scamorza cheese (RM28+) ...

... as well as a four-prawn Catalana salad (RM35+) & Piemontese one with marinated chicken, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese & tuna sauce (RM30+).

Living Food Bistro,
Menara Tan & Tan, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
Note: Living Food is among the many restaurants that offer delivery through Foodpanda.my, a terrific convenience, since parking here can be horrific on weekdays. We've tried ordering through Foodpanda.my & have been satisfied with the delivery efficiency & overall experience.

  5. I really love the way the bistro incorporated their own taste into the maki, using quinoa and avocado.

How about roadside parking on Saturdays?

    1. Waverly: yeah, there's a lot of interesting ideas here! =) ooh, i don't think parking by the road is safe, but on saturdays, there should actually be more space in the building's basement parking. usually on weekdays it's problematic (before 5pm) =)

  7. Near my office! But yes parking can be quite a pain most days...so maybe Panda can do the job!

Love the quinoa maki. An interesting twist to our usual maki.

    1. Missyblurkit: ya, my other alternative would be parking across the road near micasa, and crossing over with the overhead bridge. but that's also kinda troublesome in its own way. foodpanda to the rescue, heheh :D yeah, quinoa maki is tasty and feels less bloating compared to normal rice-filled maki, heh :D

  9. I love that salted caramel dessert at Living Food. It's doubly great because it tastes fab, but I also feel good after - no guilt for having too much dessert. Must get back over to try the quinoa (!) rolls.
