Bad Boy Cooks @ Oasis Ara Damansara

The Bad Boys behind this new American-style diner must be doing something right, since nearly every table here was taken on a recent Sunday night.

Expect hearty fare at healthy prices: this double-beef-patty delight with beef chili, beef bacon, cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, tomatoes & onions costs RM19++. Not too shabby for a bulging-big burger with plenty of fries.

Even better: the signature Super BB Hot Dog (RM18++), boasting a juicy chicken sausage topped with nearly everything the burger has, plus both mozzarella & cheddar cheese, egg, Pomodoro sauce & onion rings. A diet-destroyer indeed.

Not everything's a total hit though: the minute steak with peppercorn sauce, flash-grilled over a char-broiler, costs only RM16++ for two good-looking slices, but the meat supplies too strenuous a workout for our lazy jaws.

Coffee or milkshake? A bit of both in this delicious affogato shake (RM8++).

Wine is available at RM15++ per glass. All in all, not bad at all.

Other family-friendly fare on BBC's menu: nachos, seafood chowder, spaghetti arrabiata, fried chicken, sundaes, brownies & more.

    3. Ulric: they're planning to introduce liquor-spiked milkshakes soon too (as well as some eggy breakfast dishes eventually, when they extend their business hours to a 730am start). but i don't think i'll return for now, since cocktails aren't on the menu and ara damansara always feels a little too far outside my comfort zone =)

    4. Ulric: in other words, a restaurant that's recommended if you live or work nearby enough =)

  3. Hi Sean, it sounds like a really nice place! I am looking at that huge sandwich in the first photo and am wondering if people ever share a sandwich. I could not eat the entire thing, I would have to share it. It looks very good.

    1. Linda: you're definitely right about that burger/sandwich! i had to share it, even though i probably could have finished it on my own, since it was quite juicy and deliciously savory :D

    2. Are you kidding? Their serving are all in mini size. No wonder the price are cheaper. Food quality is what you paid for, cheap price with even cheaper food. Our group of 7 but my order never came. Service was really really bad. Never gonna step in there again ever!

  5. Tough minute steak? Must be cos of cheap meat to keep prices down. Burger looks nice though it does seem a little too ... thick to be eaten like a burger, no?

  12. Same owner that runs Arenaa Diner which also serves affordable food. Burger looks pretty good, though Ara Damansara is quite out of my way too.

    1. Kelly: oh yeah, it's too bad that Arenaa Diner seems to have closed down sometime this year, or at least that's what I heard. Hopefully they'll have other branches in more parts of the klang valley if this ara damansara outlet is a hit =)

  15. I just dropped by just now. Everything was terrible. price was really affordable but my burger was without greens. The pasta and soups were very starchy. Left it for ten minutes and it look like it became a jelly. Overall food experience is really poor.Even my daughter rejected the pasta. I feel bad for them especially for a new setup and environment definitely looks great.

    1. KY: yikes, that does sound like BBC needs to look into their quality control, especially when the crowds are large. i hope you gave them your feedback and that they'll make the necessary improvements.

At BadBoyCooks, we pride ourselves in using premium quality produces and products. We use natural oil and fat for all our cooking and baking. Certain recipes left out over a period would tend to congeal. Dear KY, thank you for your honest feedback. We will look into the matter seriously and do come and say hi on your next visit.
