Canteen @ Damansara Perdana

This calm, unpretentious outlet provides a reasonable bang for your buck.

The menu comprises simple recipes that seem common, but everything we ordered proved satisfying. We loved the no-frills twin burgers, comprising thick, succulent homemade patties topped with onions.

A sandwich, assembled on order with poached chicken, cheese & fried egg. Quite a bargain for only 6 ringgit. Two light eaters could easily share this.

Rich, warm brownies, with raspberry vanilla ice cream. No complaints.

Mini cupcakes. We've had bad encounters elsewhere with tiny cupcakes that were dry, stale and flavored like cardboard. These were the opposite: moist, fresh-tasting and perfectly sugary.

Peach Melba. Can't go wrong with such a sumptuous fruit.

Chocolate cookies. Pleasantly crisp, with a straight-from-the-oven taste.

All of that only cost us 40 ringgit. Certainly worth every sen.

  1. The place certainly looks chic... It seems that such places ( serving burgers, sandwiches and cakes ) are popping up everywhere in kl

  4. Saw this place advertised in TOKL and was wondering when you'd check it out! I reckon the food's about the same as the stuff you can get at Ecoba, eh? (I'm assuming Canteen's a stone's throw away from Ecoba heh)

  5. lemongrass: canteen is actually ecoba's neighbor! but ecoba gets all the attention :D less of pub grub here though, and more of simple western fare (steaks, pastas, salmon)...

  7. ciki: one of those tiny burgers might not be enough, since they're so yummy, despite being so basic. actually tasted better than some 'gourmet burgers' at other outlets, heheh :D

  8. Very reasonable pricing and if you enjoyed the food, then it must have been a steal!
For a moment, I thought you actually ate in a "real" canteen - but then, cannot be, right?
:-P Obviously I was wrong, hehe!

  9. pureglutton: yeps, it was both quality and quantity ... considering that at some other places, 40 ringgit might buy us only ONE dish. heh, yeah, this place has an interesting name, even though it has nothing in common with school/hospital canteens :D
