Imperial Art Cottage @ Sri Petaling

Vegetarian Japanese fare, artfully presented, as this restaurant's name suggests - the sashimi is the most striking (RM17), looking much like sliced raw salmon & tuna at first glance. Flavours & textures are fairly well-executed here, from mock 'unagi' temaki (RM5.90), to 'egg' mayo sushi (RM3.90) to caterpillar avocado maki (RM9.90); sure, in the end, everything tastes a tad more spongy than muscular, but even the curry 'chicken' katsu rice (RM12.90) wouldn't be a terrible bet for meatless Mondays.

  2. The sashimi looks like real fish! So far the best vegetarian we have ever had was in Koyasan. The seasonal fresh ingredient and tofu, simple but yummy.

    1. Blurling: coconut maybe? I initially thought tofu patties, but probably not for the sashimi
