Imperial Art Cottage @ Sri Petaling

Vegetarian Japanese fare, artfully presented, as this restaurant's name suggests - the sashimi is the most striking (RM17), looking much like sliced raw salmon & tuna at first glance. Flavours & textures are fairly well-executed here, from mock 'unagi' temaki (RM5.90), to 'egg' mayo sushi (RM3.90) to caterpillar avocado maki (RM9.90); sure, in the end, everything tastes a tad more spongy than muscular, but even the curry 'chicken' katsu rice (RM12.90) wouldn't be a terrible bet for meatless Mondays.

  1. Now I'm missing my favourite Japanese place here, none really good since that one called it a day. :'(

    1. Suituapui: hopefully another one will spring up someday to give you all the sushi that you need :)

  2. The sashimi looks like real fish! So far the best vegetarian we have ever had was in Koyasan. The seasonal fresh ingredient and tofu, simple but yummy.

    1. CK: ya, at first glance, the vegetarian sashimi here looks genuine ;) hopefully I'll be able to check out koyasan's vegetarian fare sometime! ;)

  3. Oh, those "sashimi", looks so real!

    1. Choi Yen: ya, they've done a good job at that here :D

  4. what are the food made of? especially the sashimi and egg

    1. Blurling: coconut maybe? I initially thought tofu patties, but probably not for the sashimi
