The Beach Club @ The Datai Langkawi

The beach beckons, promising the pristine sands of the Datai Bay & azure waters of the Andaman Sea - but first, make time for lunch at The Beach Club. The fresh salads here are lovely, especially the earthy-sweet beetroot, slow-roasted to a terrific tenderness, tossed with bay lentils, soft goat's cheese, wild rocket, walnuts & orange vinaigrette in a perfectly proportioned, harmoniously nuanced medley of flavours & textures. Also gorgeous, with vivacious, wholesome dimensions: A Moroccan-inflected chickpea salad with carrots, pumpkin, shallots, semi-dried tomatoes, harissa & herbs, plus a Cobb salad comprising grilled chicken, corn, avocado, romaine, blue cheese, turkey bacon & quail eggs.

If your appetite is up, The Beach Club's Black Angus rib-eye steak is a sterling choice, a 250-gramme sacrament of flavoursome succulence, paired with rosemary-fried potatoes for the ideal protein-carb partnership. Other interesting options include chilled sweet pea & mint soup with crab & curry oil; aloo tikki potato pancakes; & wok-fried rice with spiced lobster skewers, sambal bajak & keropok, washed down well with cocktails & wine. Thanks to The Datai Langkawi for having us.

  3. Actually I was just checking on the hotels at Langkawi, The Datai looks great but the price is out of my budget :(

    1. Choi Yen: yeah, it's out of my price range too, though it's worth it if you're able to and you really want a great experience. but hopefully you'll be able to find a nice hotel in langkawi anyway :)
