Breakfast @ The Datai Langkawi

Breakfast buffets at The Datai are a pleasant poolside affair, bright & cheerful - a battalion of cooks prepares playful omelettes (you can choose Asian-inflected ones stuffed with, say, chicken satay, beef rendang, tandoori chicken or sambal prawns), plus all the rustic sausages, sauteed mushrooms & crispy polenta you can devour, for the ultimate big breakfast. The selection is superior - multiple varieties of fresh bread (the carrot toast is pretty tasty), plus a fine cheese platter, plenty of pastries (from papaya danishes to pain au chocolat), & the ultimate crowning glory of a free flow of sparkling wine & cocktail mixes - the ideal excuse to get tipsy before noon. Thanks to The Datai for having us.

Breakfast is served in The Dining Room every morning at The Datai Langkawi.

  1. Hmmmm...very popular with the tourists, I see. The chefs look very young. Are they twins? The egg was perfectly done, they must be good...unlike some at the egg stations at hotel breakfasts I've been too.

Smirnoff? Vodka? And bubblies...so early in the morning? When you are still trying to endure last night's hangover? LOL!!!

    1. Btw, I wonder what the name means. In our local ethnic Iban language, "datai" means to come...like datai rumah aku, come to my house.

    2. Suituapui: yep, the guests here are mainly from out of the country, and many of them are reputedly repeat visitors :) twins ... don't think so, but i didn't ask! :)
haha, yeah, some people say that in order to stave off a hangover, just keep on drinking some more in the morning :D

    3. Suituapui: i didn't think about that or ask, but it's very possible that the datai here could mean exactly what you've explained ... or something similar! :)
